Why was she not carried from the airplane, had her shirt tail clipped and deposited in a mud bath? What has this world become??
A water shower....pppfftt......
Well done Marcel!!
(how did they get around the law? I had 100 hours when I was 15, and my instructor requested the CAA to let me go solo - they said NO!)

New law is 15 years to get an SPL, and thus go solo. Was formerly 16.

I am led to believe there was a 13 year old who soloed "back in the day" at the old Stamford hill aerodrome. I am sure there are many stories like that, but they were possibly illegal, even then.

Congratulations Marcel on your fantastic achievement! You are a great encouragement to all the young people who dream to do what you have done, and that where the will exists to live one's dreams there is always a way. We're all very proud of you!

No kidding. My first flying lesson was on my 12th birthday, and I was given 3 hours a month!
BTW: The first lesson I had was in a 150, and was R18/hour including instructor and landing fees! (1976)
I also flew an Aeronca Chief (ZS_APY), and she was R9 p/h!!

You are tickling my funny bone ......
Sorry for highjack but I could not resist, I did my PPL in 1973 - mostly on a C182 at R19 ph (belonged to Dad's company as did the instructor; very convenient) - the local Cherokee 140 was only R11.50 (but not always available during school holidays.)
We are showing our age Mike - have a good one.
Best wishes,
Bob
