Flew with Tolstoi Schoeman when FZW was still new.
He was my next door neighbour on the Komati river and knew him well.
He was also the importer and SA agent for the Marchetti.
Still living on the farm at Vygeboom but have not seen him for the last 10 years.

I sold Fzw on behalf of Kaspaas Pohl of Tzaneen around 1995.
Remember the aircraft well. Was very noisy but had lots of power.

Armand - you still in the Vygeboom area?

Making my list of people to call for a frosty or five when I get to go on holiday to our spot on the dam.
If ever in doubt about flying - drink a beer.
That will give you at least 8 hours to think about it some more.

I owned the aircraft for a year in 1993...Was a pleasure to fly! A little slow for a retrac 250hp cruiser (130/140 kts if I remember correctly.) LOTS of room inside and great bonded wings...not a rivit in sight...

Flew it from George to Kenya and back....

Hi all
Hi Peter
I am Tony Gibson and my father is Roger gibson your partner in FZW. So good to hear the plane is still around. I would love to have gotten my hands on her. This was the plane that sealed my fate in aviation. i have been flying now from the age of 15 but my first flight in the plane was when i was 3 in 1974. I recall stories my dad tells of how scared i was of the plane. i would lie flat on the back seat of our car while my dad would go fly. Who would have guessed i would already have nearly 6000 logged hours on all the types of aircraft i have logged. Many i have not logged hours on because i lost my medical and my license at one stage and could only fly with a buddy in the left seat.

Awesome to see the pictures

I did my comm flight test in FZW, my wife as well. Her father use to own FZW back in about 2000/2001. It was a nice aircraft to fly, not a lot of people actually know what they look like. This was also when vdbijl airport was still active.
