Fabric for large scale?

Postby Theuns v V » Tue Mar 04, 2014 6:13 am

What is available locally in terms of fabric for 1/4 scale Newport and DH-82?
I want to compare the costs of buying something like Solartex that is ironed on and ready for paint to something like Sig cover all that needs dope ect.

Is Solartex natural still being made? I have used this with success a long time ago.

Thanx

Hi Theuns, We use Loomstate
How about some figures:
Loomstate 1.6m wide-
weight 80grm per square meter also available in 56grm per square meter
Cost depending on shipping (so without) R28
can of Sig stix-it R100 - haven't counted but at least two planes We only put it around the edges. The sanding sealer glues it to the rest. will do about 3 X 3rd scale planes
1 ltr Sanding Sealer R149 - Does about two 3rd scale planes

Solartex 90cm wide (about the same for Oratex)
Weight +-95 grm
Cost R330+

All pinking tape is cut from Solartex or Oratex
http://www.seankriegler.com - Well underway take a look and tell me what you think
