Hi Guys

I went in yesterday to collect my license which I handed in last Monday, 1 July and was told computers are down and no licenses are being issued.

Lets face it, the CAA don't care.

@lawotschkin

Absolutely no Indication as to when the system problems will be repaired, and to be honest I don't think the CAA cares.

When handing in license renewals the clerks should be able to check that all the documentation is in order and you should then be able to fly based on the test form being signed by the instructor and the logbook being endorsed. It is not our fault there system is down, we should not be prevented from flying.

What happens if you are an airline pilot handing in your renewal and your licence lapses in next day or two?

The slowing wheels of bureaucracy means most have adopted and earlier than required recurrent cycle for paperwork. Guess we will have to wait and see in a month or so?

Very good question! Our training department has mentioned that there have been no licence returns for the last few weeks. My suggestion... with an IF rating, get into a habit of renewing two months early. This means that you have a rolling 14th month window with regards to license validity (if you renew within 60 days of the expiry, then they roll the previous expiry date forward by a year).

This is my biggest fear as well. Imagine being told you don't exist on the system. And theres no trace of any exams you wrote...
