I now appreciate your comment yesterday Pete. =D> :D

Are there any decent webcams around Uitenhage / PE? I can't find anything open source with a date time stamp confirming the data is "current" . . . . .

Hi Pete, that link was to home page, a bit of sightseeing then I found the map page

https://www.google.com/maps/d/viewer?mi ... 541271&z=5

We are discussing fitting one (or more N/S or E/W) at FAPX. Any idea of costs and who, how, where?

Another great website to view webcams is via the Webcam layer on Windy (www.windy.com)

Its shows which webcams are currently active, and you can playback as required

Hi All,

I am busy working on starting up a NPO focused on installing a network of live cameras for the use of the aviation industry.

Our mission is to: improve GA safety, improve situational awareness & encourage exploration.

As a VFR pilot, webcams have been a great way to make go / no go decisions when doing NAV flights - but I have found that most airports don't have webcams, the webcams are offline or are unusable. In my opinion, a network of well maintained, high quality webcams are invaluable to the community.

In order to aid with our market research phase, I would appreciate some feedback from the AVCOM community. I would like to encourage anyone reading this (whether you are a pilot or an enthusiast) to take 4 minutes out of your day to complete our quick survey.

Survey: https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NH8Z9ZJ

Thank you in advance for your time, and I would appreciate any constructive criticism, ideas, support & comments.

Can't agree more! Personally find them invaluable, especially for remote airports with basic weather information available.

Also would like to thank all the members for all the survey responses so far - they help a great deal in shaping a solution that works for the entire community. Please continue to complete the survey (https://www.surveymonkey.com/r/NH8Z9ZJ) and send it along to all your aviation contacts.

Any further help, advice, and referrals would also be greatly appreciated, after all, this is a project to aid the entire community :)
