British Airways A380 in SA
A British Airways A380 will operate the BA57 to JNB on 25 Jan and then remain in SA for about 10 days to do training, some of which I understand will be done in Durban.

It seems the aircraft leaves Heathrow on 25 Jan, arriving Jo'burg on the morning of 26 Jan.

I did not know about the man vs plane competition.

Hot and high conditions perhaps
Cheap, quite airports and lots of airspace
Airports are where it happens

Doesn't BA believe in simulator training? To leave an aircraft on the ground for days without generating revenue, sounds like legacy carrier economics.

Re: British Airways A380 in SA
So this means at least on 26 January JNB will receive 4 different A380...as Emirates is still coming in with it until Tuesday 28 Jan. And all 4 will be arriving within 1h20mins...both BA and LH scheduled for 09:40am arrival, EK at 10:50 and AF at 11:00...so for 4 hours all should be on the ground until EK leaves at 14:00 again. Photos please!

If the A380 is operating BA57,does that mean that there is no return flight that night?

That sounds like a good reason to visit the airport that day.grjplanes wrote:So this means at least on 26 January JNB will receive 4 different A380...as Emirates is still coming in with it until Tuesday 28 Jan. I'd just hate to be arriving at immigration that day though...emilemyburgh wrote:That sounds like a good reason to visit the airport that day.grjplanes wrote:So this means at least on 26 January JNB will receive 4 different A380...as Emirates is still coming in with it until Tuesday 28 Jan. Re: British Airways A380 in SA
Qantas has been flying to South Africa with B744's for years, any chances of them upgrading to A380's in the future?
