Re: The Jumpseat request thread
Whoever (mods) changed my heading, also removed the flight number and date from it. I purposely put it into the heading so that it can stand out without having to go into the post.Walid wrote:Kulula - Johannesburg to George 14h35.
Anyway - it is MN0901 - 17 October 2014.

Mango jumpseat?
I am on flight JE144 tomorrow morning from Cape Town to Johannesburg and wondering if any Avcommer is maybe doing the flight, I once flew jumpseat from FAGG-FAOR and it was such an amazing experience! Thanks in advance. Francois Crewe

Flight Deck Visit Request - MN925 (17/11) and MN902 (24/11)
Afternoon everyone,
Is there anyone on here who will be/knows someone operating the Lean Green Machine between JNB and GRJ next Monday (17/11) as MN925, and between GRJ and JNB the following Monday (24/11) as MN902?
The Mrs-to-be and I are heading down to Wilderness on honeymoon, and I would love for her to have the opportunity of visiting the flight deck and seeing what it's like up front.
Also, a special PA announcement announcing the beautiful bride in seat xx would score me some serious brownie points
Thanks in advance!

Re: The airline jumpseat/flightdeck/announcement request thr
Gents, some advice if you're considering using this thread to request jumpseats etc.
Maybe introduce yourself first on your post,
Try "Hi my name is Koos and I'm a keen glider pilot/flight simmer/kite flyer/have my ppl or comm etc. I'd really like to have the opportunity of sitting in the jumpseat of flight xxxx on the date of xxxx"
747DTR and inverboeing you gents are on the right track. Walid, just posting your flight number and the date isn't going to get you far.
It's just common courtesy, would you send your boss at work a note saying "your office, Tuesday 9am, be there"? No you wouldn't, not if you expected a reply.
We love having other pilots and people who are passionate about flying up front. Sometimes we can't accommodate but generally we do our best to have people come visit if it's possible. As I said sometimes it's a training flight or the weather is bad etc and we just can't help, but asking nicely can't hurt!

I thought it was illegal to have non-crew in the cockpit post 9/11.
Anyway, I'm a PPL and flying from São Paulo to Johannesburg this Sunday evening (SA 223) and would love a jumpseat...

Hello, my name is Andrew and I appear to have an appropriate handle for this thread!
I'm on on Mon 17th CPT - JNB in SA 346 at 15h20. It has been a long time since I was on a flightdeck and would love to visit if possible. Long time simmer and have ridden in the sharp end of a lot of military planes, including driving a Pilatus Astra for an hour out of LBWG.
And the same night I am outbound JNB-LHR in BA56 in case my English friends are looking at this thread!
Regards
A

I don't think one is likely to get into the flightdeck on an international flight.
Domestically SAA doesn't allow it. Kulula does and Airlink too...just helps if you have your license to show the crew. Not sure on others.

Hello. My name is Gareth and I'm an alcoholic. And by alcoholic I mean avid aviation enthusiast. I'm flying on MN461 HLA-CPT tomorrow (16/11) and would really appreciate an opportunity to visit the flight deck if possible.
Regards,
Gareth
