Airporfolio 2017

Unread post by Roger » Sat Feb 25, 2017 3:52 pm

Over the last few months have been slowly upgrading the old Airportiki ( viewtopic.php?f=1&t=55049 ). Have renamed it and have added one or two features. Please have a look over it and let me have your comments please?

Specifically, please can I request you to update the latest fuel prices at your local airfields? Once there are a few loaded, I will show you a nifty feature that we can publish within a normal post on the forum.

Airporfolio can be accessed here: http://www.avcom.co.za/airport2/

just a couple of questions: FAAB AlexanderBay no longer has a tower - what frequency should be used?
and, is it just my browser, or why do some fields have garbage in them?
(eg the last few fields at the end:

I checked all six pages and no garbage anywhere. Which browser are you using? Perhaps delete your browsing history and see if it makes a difference. Also a good idea to check your regional settings in Windows to see if there's something unusual set up there.

Nice Roger.

Question: Who is going to maintain the information on the data? Will you make this update-able by everyone? Possible danger of garbage everywhere. Or, have an update function which sends the updated info to a central point (could be mods, could be a designated group that maintains the info).

Will you have info in the database re fuel and fuel contacts per airfield?

Hi 87J

We restrict access to update the information to AvCom members ie. you must be a registered user on AvCom to be able to update it. We also keep information within the update as to who the user was that amended or added the data. This should mitigate most of the risk of garbage data.

So basically the hope is that the community will keep the information up to date.

Yes there is space for contacts and fuel information.

Supplier not terribly important, you can put pretty much anything you want in that field. More for the airfields that may have more than one supplier. If unsure, just put 'local' or just a full stop.

Looks like we are having some good uptake on the facility. We served up just short of 4700 pages of information from Airporfolio in the month of July 2017.
