RIP Mike...
I had the pleasure to work and fly with Mike for a few years... collecting the Lightnings in the UK, ship and rebuild them in Cape Town was a dream come true. Being part of Classic Jets and then Thunder City were a blast. Mike was always a demanding character, but knew how to challenge himself and those around him to achieve "the unthinkable". We'll surely miss him, a great loss to the South African aviation fraternity.

Gee-whiz !! - rather shocking news for us right close by - the passing of a real aviation Gentleman. That is what he was to me from the time we fitted some of the first GPS units to his "Parcel Service" Albatrosses.

I think that must be where he fell in love with engines that "PUSH" instead of "PULL" - so he kept "pushing" until he flew some of the greatest "PUSHERS" of them all - the Lightning could "PUSH" you beyond 20,000ft quicker than it took a Rugby ball to cross the bar from a "drop-kick" !!

RIP - Mike - you will be missed.

Awesome send-off for Mike today at Thunder City. From the eulogies read out by his friends and family, it is quite clear that Mike lived life to the absolute full and enjoyed every moment of it. Awesome to see what he managed to do and achieved during his 59 years!

I have just discovered (purely by chance searching for details of Mike on line) the sad, sad news of Mike's passing. I cannot put into words how deeply moved I am to have learnt of this, and I send my heart felt condolences to all of his family, friends and colleagues.
Mike, you made a life-long ambition become a reality for me, that I never ever thought I would realise. To fly in a Lightning jet.
In 2000, Mike and I flew in XS 451 (ZU-BEX) over Cape Town, and I still get goose bumps when I think about it.
I can honestly say that it was one of the best experiences of my life.

Mike, I can never say thank you enough for what you helped me achieve, and it has held me in good stead throughout my life having truly learnt some wisdom in the brief time we shared together. One life...Live it. How true.

Rest in peace Mike.
