True words Michael. MBH really did exemplify living life at full throttle.
Anyone who had the privilege to have flown with him can just marvel at the example he set.

What a great pilot and and what a great loss to this country. His vision and (business) courage put South Africa on the map of war bird aviation.

Very true. He had an extraordinary blend of passion, money and business plus flying skill.

This was my view from the cockpit at about 500mph doing a fly past at the request of Overberg. We were at 50,000' in their airspace, with Mike letting me do supersonic aileron rolls, when they asked if we'd brighten up their day with an impromptu airshow. He said it was my dime, so my call. I agreed and he took the aircraft back. Overberg was directly below us. He pointed BEX straight down and crossed controlled into the most aggressive side slip imaginable. Then slammed the opposite way. He told me we were pulling well over 5g's. I believed him. I lost count, but it took about ten reversals of the slip to end up over the ocean at about 100', approaching the taxiway just under the speed of sound. The entire base flashed by in a couple blinks. At the end of the taxiway he went vertical, with afterburner, to 25,000' and rolled inverted. "Your aeroplane", and I had the controls again.
