Unread post by Snitch » Thu Aug 27, 2020 2:17 pm

Some have asked for a sticky with an easy link to the SACAA info for licence renewals and booking for licence collections during lockdown.

Mods please make sticky if possible

Direct link: http://www.caa.co.za/Pages/Personnel%20 ... tions.aspx
Or select page on SACAA home page as in 1st picture below

On the SACAA site linked above click the numbered blue box for each thing you want. Forms or Fees or collections booking

Thank you very much for your effort,

I have a question regarding the renewal of my license, I get very dumb when it comes to paperwork.
I am oversea and with the situation I am not going to make it to SA this years.

What I did on November 2019 is to renew my CPL but with no IF, witch would make it valid for 2 years. The class on is valid for 1 years and i just managed to renew with a SACAA approved medical examiner oversea.

I believe I now have to pay a fee to to CAA.

When I pay that fee will they need to reprint the license ? if yes will they be able to send it oversea ?

Also I also just noticed that weird sentence in my license, "Flight test issued for one years due to annual currency requirements. The actual expiry date of the test is 31/10/2021." witch doesn't make much sense to me.

I am working with a local validation of that license, the local authorities are going to give me crap if they can't understand what is going on with my paper.

Hope someone could help.

In my experience:
The test is only "valid" one year due to currency requirements, ie your annual payment and other submissions such as logbooks.
When you hand those in one year later they change the date to the actual 2 year date

They allow certain couriers to fetch the licences, maybe one of those are fine with sending it to you internationally ??

I also thought so- then my test email also got returned.
Seems as if a “filter” blocks my email from my “gmail” account.
I then sent it from another account - and this seems to have gone through ( no error , or return mail).

Holding thumbs.

From submission via email, to receiving my licence back 3 days ago, it was just over a week. So perhaps they have caught up the backlog and turn around times are improving.
