SACAA's latest party trick:

They send out reminders of bookings the day before the scheduled meeting, asking people to please not forget the booking - and then they instruct the gate guard to turn everyone away on the day of the bookings.

This has now happened twice to me in as many weeks, costing me in the region of 6 hours driving time and plenty of fuel cost. And according to the gate guard there has been many people treated the same abhorrent way recently.

Really not impressed with SACAA. They just don't give a flying feather.

Here we go again . My ATF submission submitted last week has not had an acknowledgement of receipt which they are required to do , so the systems falls down immediately as they leave you with no mechanism to ensure the docs have been lodged . What am I supposed to do now ?
- drive there and ask them . Phoning is simply a waste of time

Ditto on my side. Submitted early this week and no confirmation of receipt forthcoming, despite my follow up email requests.

So much inconsistency in actual experiences.

Submitted all my docs via email for PPL renewal on Monday this week, received email yesterday to say license ready for collection, asked via email whether I needed to book a collection time, answer back almost immediately that I can just arrive any time to collect. Collected today. Done in 5 days.

Maybe just my lucky year!

Good Day

I've tried reaching out to jonty@promptroofing.co.za, as mentioned in the beginning of this forum, but got no response as yet. Can someone please recommend any other steps to follow, or a CAA phone nr to contact besides Client Care, to follow up on PPL renewal application?
I've sent emails twice to aircrewapplications@caa.co.za but still no feedback

Thanks
Nic

Just to inform CAA came back to me.
Take note when you send your application: Always quote your license number, initial, surname and type of license on subject line
Thanks to Jonty them for the assistance

I read this with interest.

Nothing is going to change as things will never ever be the same again.

Visit any traffic Department and return and complain about the service.

Sit back and enjoy life and await new blood flow into these departments.

Young ones educated and more eager to work will fill positions and when that happens The Stormers will win all the matches again.

Hi all

Just curious if you can go to CAA now ? I have been struggling to get any kind of reply out of them since October regarding my licence renewal , so my last resort is to take a day off work and actually go there ....

I've had no issues walking in since December. The bookings link sent out with the collections emails also seems to be inop these days (for CoA collections at least)

I have sent in an ATF renewal. TEN working days to get the replay mail back telling me to which inspector it has been assigned too

OK, so I was a nuisance in order to get my ATF. I had the mobile number of one of the staff members and to her credit, she called me back every time the phone went through to voice mail. I received my ATF on Friday past at 16H57.

To be honest, I just can't grasp why this takes so long. Lets face it, when our AP presents us with our Release To Service (RTS), that "certificate" should be the "kicker" for the easiest of processes, . . . . . at CAA, once received together with our R360- payment, send off our ATF electronically. The AP as a rep of CAA ought to ensure that the myriad of documents are completed / compliant before passing on our RTS. We should then be given eg 14 days to send off electronically any documents CAA may want from us.

CAA outsources our medicals to our AMEs and we get our medical certificate immediately. Why can't CAA try to find a less labour intensive yet compliant process that makes them as SACAA look productive and us the customer happy? I dare you CAA - think about it.

To the lady who helped me, if you read this - "thank you".

Quote from Poppy Khoza on LinkedIn. I suggest that complaints should be directed at her on LinkedIn as well, as she is being praised as a visionary leader at SACAA...
