FAA does an assessment not an audit.

It is a pass or fail assessment with allocation of a category I or II.

ICAO USOAP does audits with findings and recommendations, no pass of fail.

A Cat II assessment by FAA can lead to a restriction of RSA scheduled flights to USA.

Should this happen, EU, UK, China, Australia etc. can note and impose restrictions as well.

This very nearly happened in 2007 following the ICAO audit and FAA assessment two weeks later.

It can have serious consequences if no favourable assessment.

If the assessment is bad, do you think Poppie will get a massive bonus and a pat on the shoulder? That's the way things work in this country isn't it?

They can't "promote" her to minister of transport, because she won't accept the massive drop in remuneration that that would entail.

News 24 appears to be unaware of the near-catastrophe for SA aviation, the last time the FAA did an audit. Back then, FAA came close to banning all overflight of US territory by SA-registered aircraft!

You never know .....

Perhaps the FAA will discover and recognize the near-catastrophe called SACAA this time.

Neewat, as SACAA slim is skree hulle net rassisme. Amerikaners word tans so aangeval oor rassisme hulle is besig om hul eie land te verloor. Dan sal FAA niks verder doen nie...........

Will this surely not have an effect on the value of SA registered aircraft? Just try getting a D2-Reg plane I to SA register, for example except ZS now becomes as D2. Unless perhaps, if your AMO has independent FAA accreditation, so tech log entries are to FAA standard? Anyone know what effect would be?
