Re: DC-6 to fly out of Swartkop?
Gear retraction test was done this week - look ma no wheels!
Owners must still prepare landing strip & CAA inspection to issue ferry permit.
I would say early September, how does the 4th of Sept sound?!

They started marking the mod's to my runway on saterdag(2010-9-18)
16 Oct 2010 sound a bit optimistic but lets see maybe they will spark with the mods to the runway

Goose, did you know that this particular DC-6 that will land on your strip, was delivered to Canadian Pacific Airlines in 1957. CP Air had a very well known insignia on the tail of their aircraft from about 1961 onwards - a Canadian Goose. The Goose comes home.
According to the restoration team the flight has been moved to the next Saturday 23 October 2010.

Re: DC-6 to fly out of Swartkop?
For all those that love the sound of big P&W's the DC-6 crew will be doing final checks this Saturday 16th at Swartkop during the morning.
The "final" flight is scheduled for either the 23rd or the 30th depending on the pilot's Johann vdB and Flippie V's busy flying programme.
You can also go to http://www.dc-6.co.zafor some historic info on the old bird.

I'm going to make a plan to be there - its only a pity that she'll only be making one more flight

Goose, just out of pure curiousity, where is that nice strip of yours?
Looking at the dates, I might just be able to fly out of Bots to come and see this, I have a serious soft spot for those old planes.
