The trade names for the different materials seem to differ between countries and cause some confusion. In SA we only really have two types of canopy/windscreen material around. In SA they go by the names:
1) Perspex (cast acrylic) - typical thermo formed canopy/bubble
2) Polycarbonate - typical flat wrapped windscreen

The first is very forgiving and you can polish out small scratches, over spray etc.
The second is nasty stuff which I find you can do very little with in terms of repair. It also "crazes" with time in high stress bend areas and around bolts etc. Have had very little luck removing scratches etc too. It is however the material mostly used for cold bent, thin flat wrap windscreens on many of the LSA's (Kitfox, Pipistrel etc). Typically needs replacement every few years (in my experience).

I received my VUPLEX from the Cape Town distributor who went out of his way to get the product to my daughter in CT. We had rendezvous hassles but he so kindly assisted and now its off to the bike and aircraft to get rid of those pesky scratches. Looking at the video - I look forward to its many benefits - and it looks darn easy.

The CT distributor is an OLD Avcommer Paul van Tellingen. His email is cape@vuplexsa.co.za

Mobile - 083 292 3265

Thanks Craig for your help too. Invoice received.

This seems like an interesting topic.

I polished my canopy with a slow electric buff and brasso.(very time consuming) All the scratches are gone but i can see some circular patterns on the canopy in bright sunlight.

Will Vuplex remove it and makes it flawless?

Jacque - I'm very happy with the result. Obviously, the deep etched chips from stones on the bike screen is too much for it to remove but yes, I'm happy. I still need to go out to the airfield and do the aircraft.
