Neville just keep the chairs in the new aircraft.
They are more comfortable than most sport aircraft seats.

Ignition upgrade on GK-1 has improved the overhaul experience. Supplier said 7% more power over standard ignition.

For the first time I hade to throttle back as I saw 230mph indicated in the dive towards the runway. And then in the cruise without changing height she reached 203mph at full throttle.

Since I purchased this aircraft over a year ago I have done so many upgrades. From a new instrument panel to most importantly installing a new Dynatech ignition system. Obviously, the paint scheme has added the most improved visual upgrade. The inflight safety and reliability of the engine lie with the ignition system, and this Dynatech 2000 ignition system is a modern upgrade to the previous 1975 era motorbike ignition system that was used on the original engine conversion. To date, this Honda engine has done over 300 Hours of duty in a Citabria before being transplanted into the small GK-1 fuselage. To date, she has flown a further 120 Hours in the GK-1. The designer and builder Garth Kopke used to build KR's during the '80s and wanted something much faster and stronger. The back part aft of the cockpit is a KR-1, but the rest of the aircraft was all his own design. The RAF48 wing profile is such a forgiving wing profile. The stall at 42mph is so docile allowing the landing to take place touching down in the 3 pointer position at around 55-58mph.

More upgrades are on their way. 1) A new prop from NRPROP, that is designed for high speed and all calculations indicate a 20mph+ cruise improvement over the current propellor.

Hi Neville
I am following your upgrades and like the performance getting better.
Do you perhaps plan to enter the Race for Rhinos in Botswana in the future
as the real figures will show on a longer race track that can be compared
to similar and other Type Certified aircraft.

Johan No my only experience with Race for Rhinos was a paid weekend to display and entertain. No interest to race anywhere, just not in my personality.

At 5300rpm (prop pitch 20.5 deg) indicated airspeed 185-190 mph and over 30 Hours flown the fuel burn averaged at 15l/h.

So on paper, Kitty Hawk to Margate will be under 2 hours And 30L Used. Fuel Capacity is 60L.

This journey has been slow from starting with 5min flights and now 1 hours flights are standard.

Took the GK for straight line level flights. After 15min she reaches top speed. I was very pleased with the cruise performance, as expected the increase in cruise speed with the new prop is just spectacular.
