Re: ZS-WPX Project
Thanks Gents for the kind words. Appreciated as always
update:
time to take the KR to the airfield. Big thank you to Carlton (FlyKr) who helped me load the KR onto the trailer and take it to Tedderfield. what a job and stressful aswell. Offloaded the KR on Saturday and then fitted teh wings on sunday. Did a full power run to check the engine. 1st run was full power for 5 min . Temps ,pressures all good and getting 3000rpm with a 43 pitch prop. This will unload to around 3300 rpm which should give me around 140mph cruise. did a 2nd run also for 5 min. have a small flat spot between 1200 and 1800 rpm, but very responsive and smooth between 2000 and 3000rpm. will need to play with the mixtures and timing.
a couple of items to attend to before doing the w&b and getting the AP out for the inspection. Then paperwork for CAA and start with the taxi tests. Finally getting closer to day she flies again.
very exciting times.
Cheers
Craig

Agree, she looks better than new. Craig please tell me when you are going to do the maiden flight as I am keen to fly up to Tedders to witness it!!!?

Re: ZS-WPX Project
Thanks Pete,Andre and Gerhard for the kind words.
I was at the airfield today, went for a nice flip in the cubby.
I then changed the tyres on the KR2. Carlton came to help me set the timing and the air/fuel mixture. She is now running super sweet and temps and pressures all in check.
I have to re-design the bottom and top cowl for clearance purposes. Fits nice when engine is cold but when exhaust is hot and inlet manifolds are hot the cowl starts to bubble.
So I will be doing some more fiber glass work.
Pete I will let you know when I am ready to fly her.
I think it will be around Nov /Dec. I still have to do some minor things, do the weight and balance and get the AP's to check her out to get the ATF. then some taxi tests followed by the first flight.
Getting very exciting.
Cheers

Re: ZS-WPX Project
Get some fire retardant material you use on the fire wall and some glue and paste it on the cowl were it gets to hot?giarc64 wrote:
