and so after allmost 3.5 years, WPX run under own power and thundered down the runway . I did about 15 taxi runs up to 35 mph. kept the tail down.Just want to get used to the way she handles. Tailwheel very responsive. Brakes are also very good. Have to richen her a bit more.Oil temps great . Was a hot day today and with my new air scoop feeding the oil cooler the oil did not go above 70 degreeseven after taxing up and down for 30 min. CHT also never went above 140 degrees.

So far so good. feeling very excited.

Cheers

Nice to see you have a peek every once in a while.

Sunday was a big highlight for me and WPX. I conducted fast taxie tests with the tail up and she is super responsive . The tail comes up easily and I can keep directional control easily. My left brake is binding a bit so will have to check that out.

Thanks to Gus for the pics, much appreciated.

Cheers
Craig

Thanks guys for the nice comments.

Next step is to do the weight and balance. Carlton( flyKR) who perhaps knows most about kr2's says that WPX feels right and light. Then need the AP to sign her out and do the necessary paperwork for the ATF. I will continue to conduct taxi test and lifting the tail and get very comfortable. The big day will hopefully be this year, most probably in Dec.

Thanks
Craig

getting closer to the 1st flight. My AP inspected the Kr today. all good . 1 or 2 small snags to fix. need to visit RAASA to get the ATF. Call Icasa and get radio license and then we are good to go.

conducted gear retraction test today to confirm that the brake cables don't interfear with the retraction process. Posted a video of the test.

I am sure I will be flying this beaut by mid feb.

this project started in June 2010 .
