Photo’s of South African KR2’s

Kend Rand designed his KR-1 in 1972, he also pioneered a state-of-the-art foam-and-fiberglass composite construction method which has now become standard in homebuilt, commercial, and military aircraft.

Built/owned by Brett Routly. During the build he got distracted by an RV .. and built RV7A ZU-EVD which is flying and I believe it is based at Wings Park East London.
Looks to be a nice job on the KR

Hauled out my ancient logbook and noted that I test flew VVD on 24/7/1988.
Paging further I spotted these registrations too;
ZS-VVT
ZS-UXV
ZS-WJN
ZS-UIR
ZS-WHG
ZS-VYZ
ZS-WEC

289hrs total on all of them.

Quite a few scares but lots of fun :D
Keep them light. Keep them simple and they can be great little aeries.

Not a KR but many similarities.....the GK1 was also in my stable for a while....really sweet aerie...well done Garth :!:

Nice pics Russel, I remember the good old Margate days there used to be a few KRs flying back then pity there is not many airworthy ones around any more.
BLJ been grounded for the last 2 years now as I've been working on the RD and engine....the new pulleys should be ready in the next week then I can get her back into the air again :D
Only real pilots can fly KR's

I seem to recall that the most RV's to attend Margate was six.
With a bit of effort I am sure this record can be broken :)
