Today I did some more work on the cowl, there was 3mm gap (photo above) between the firewall and bottom part of the cowl that needed filling.
I sorted this out by glassing on a backing strip of cloth onto the inside of the cowl, after this cured over night I applied filler and sanded it flush with the outside cowl surface. I then sanded down the cowling edge again to fit…..problem solved :D

While I was busy grafting on the cowl, I heard the drone of radial engines and when I looked skywards I was blessed with this wonderful sight….. :D :D

Hi

Looking at the pictures of UKU brings back fond memories for me. I flew in her with Sakkie around 1984 at Lanseria. That was the days when the KR2 kit sold for R12500.
She is a very special KR2 and to be honest, I have never seen another example of a KR that was so striking in looks. Sakkie loved her with a passion and he started the building process in their livig room on the small holding close to Lanseria. Was quite an experience being on finals with some Beech C90's and other twins also in the que. Sakkie took a short cut and manouvered us right in between the other planes and somehow the other pilots just let him do it, I guess they all had some affection (and repect) for this fast little bullet. I remember how we taxied thru right under a wingtip of a bigger plane. Look well after her, she deserves it.
Regards
