Cessna T210N ZS-MPA

Unread post by HJK » Thu Aug 20, 2015 2:07 pm

Hi,

I though to share our recent upgrade to ZS-MPA. She is a T210 with a Turbo Plus Intercooler system. Due to recent engine trouble and being unable to source the problem we opted for a complete engine change  . We are now fitting the Atlantic Aero STC with the Continental IO-550-P Engine and the Hartzell Scimitar Propeller  .

Maybe we can start a club? I have one too.

You're going to love it. Just don't think you're ever going to get your investment back if you try to sell it.

For some reason, no-one understands exactly what you did to the plane, and even experienced sales people seem a but dumbfounded.

You are unfortunately right.

However there is not much if any aeroplane that can replace the 210 for under 3bar. That is why decided to do the conversion and we don't plan to part with it in the foreseeable future.

Here is some pics of the progress thus far: (Cant wait to go and fly it :P )

Finally :!: We are done! Aircraft is performing well. We have done 20 hours thus far and you can hardly notice the difference between the turbo and the normally aspirated engines. We have done flights up to FL105 and the performance is on par with the T210 but using a little less fuel. A big thank you to Helifix Wonderboom (Henty & Jaco), Century Avionics (Eddie & Shane), and Flash of Coloring (Danie) for all their help and assistance! =D> We are truly enjoying the new lease on life on ZS-MPA.

She's beautiful. Enjoy. I went again for the factory new TSIO 520 R two years ago and am very happy with it. My experience was greatly enhanced by the GAMI injectors and flying lean of peak. Cape Town to jhb in 4 hrs and 200 l, family of 4 and the wife packing. I just cannot find a machine to replace it. Regards nelis

As mentioned before, I have the same conversion on mine, and the trick is to run it lean of peak. As much as 20lb's per hour lighter on fuel than the old 520 turbo.

And yes, I also find that it cruises at the same speed as the old Turbo used to, even though I run her on economical settings, not near the power peak.

When you approach your destination and you turn the fuel from lean to rich of peak, you can feel the jump in the plane as it gains the extra power!

Mine has just over 70 hours on now.

What beautiful photos from Nampo. I'm in love with the 210 again. :smt007 Am so missing flying that machine. And it's true, no one understands that switch to the 550. But what a dream. One day when I'm old and still probably poor I'll just have to get myself in a 210 with the 550 motor in. What an aerie HJK =D> =P~ =D>
