C210 Gear Doors

Unread post by E816 » Fri Mar 24, 2017 1:57 pm

First off, apologies (and thanks) to Bearcat for the use of his photos, but they add the visuals needed for this question.

I have been having some small issues with my C210 UC and has everybody puzzled. What I have noticed sometimes is that the front gear door does not close completely once the gear is locked down, but usually it does. Looking at some photos of other 210's I've noticed the same on many others (hence Bearcat's photos). First is our C210 with gear extended and doors closed, then other with gear extended and door still open.

Can somebody clever please explain this to me and whether it should be something to be concerned about.

See pics below.

From the 210N model (1979-on) the front gear doors stay open when the gear is extended and the rear gear doors with associated linkages were omitted.
There were many upgrades to the U/C making it simpler and easier to maintain from the "N" model, notably the omission of the up locks relying only on hydraulic pressure to keep the gear up.

Your model (210M 1978) also has had the main gear doors removed which was a common mod to rid the unnecessary complication (would still have the up locks though).
Some say the doors made them faster but here is a classic example of less is far more! :D

Edit: I have Attached the 210 timeline from CPA, this must be one of the very most "evolved" aircraft around!

Hi Pete,

Thank you so much, what an excellent document. I have come across a lot of this information on the web but nothing as complete and in a single document. Thank you again =D> =D>
