Undercarriage Noise

Unread post by flashfly » Tue Oct 20, 2009 11:07 pm

My nosegear makes a shuddering noise when taxing over an uneven surface.
Apparently not serious according to a technician. Is it an inherent trait of
Mooneys because they don't have oleos?
Do any other Mooney pilots experience this?

Mine certainly doesn't make any noise like that. If the maintance guy says it is fine it should be. However he is not the one being uncomfortable in it. I recommend a second opinion from a experienced Mooney guy. Next time you go past Port Alfred let Pat Hanley take look. (or just call him and explain the symptoms) His opinion is usually sound.

I'll certainly have it checked out - by Pat. It sounds like something is worn out or worse.
I use some reasonably rough strips now and then and have never encountered anything alike.

I have never had noise from the front, until the recent collapse/ wheels-up, and then there was plenty. You don't want it, believe me!
