Error 1722 on FSX installation

Unread post by Nutlang » Fri Sep 07, 2018 11:11 am

Hi Guys

I am at my limit of frustration with this error.
Without making a long story I had to reinstall my FSX on Windows 10. FSX being the Gold Edition Box version. The first time I installed it there were no issues. Installed and ran like a dream, no problems

Just as the installation comes to a end (registering module) then the installation stops and I get the 1722 error followed soon after by the 1608 fatal error... Think 1608 ..

Have googled the web FUBAR and all the recommendations points to reinstalling Windows and then FSX thereafter. Not a possibility for me as I have not received the Win 10 installation disks for the laptop.. (Bid or Buy)

I have downloaded the KB928080 file and ran it. This is supposed to reset the Windows Installer which seems to be causing the errors in the first place.
I have deleted all traces of FSX in all the folders: Cdrive; ProgramData folder; in the Roaming folder where the cfg is normally stored; my documents the works.
Have downloaded a registry cleaner and fixed registry errors. Did a search for FSX in the registry; no sign of it.
Ran Win 10 Updates and are up to date currently
Did laptop restart

the above procedures I`ve done a couple of times !!
Yet after all of the above I still get these errors..
All other Flightsim related programs install no problem. Some even more than once! But not FSX :(

My specs:
I7 @ 2.7GHz
8G ram
940MX 4G graphics
1 TB hard drive
Win 10

When I can I will be going to P3D but for now I have to use FSX still
Any help will really be appreciated

Thx Guys

Are you installing from original DVDs?

Remember not to install FSX in the default folder - use C:\FSX for example.

I don't care what you think of me! Unless you think I'm awesome - then you're right, carry on!

My flying is not that bad....I've never left one up there..

Success at last!! \:D/
My road to happyness as follows

You have to reset the Windows Installer Package by downloading the file KB928080 here
https://flyawaysimulation.com/downloads ... etsldlexe/

Comes in a zip file; extract and run exe.
This places a folder called: MicrosoftKB928080 in your C drive.
Now open the DOS command window by clicking
"Start>run>cmd" Change directory (cd c:\microsoftkb928080. Once there type "resetsldl<space> /a".
If everything went good it should have returned the statement "success"

Thereafter continue installation of FSX,dont restart PC!!

Thx for the help above as well.
Now to let the missus know that FSX is back !!!

Cheers

Nico

While you`ve mentioned that Chaos, here is my method of registering FSX Acceleration

If Error 1-80004005 is encountered during FSX Acceleration activation, follow the steps below to remove it:
Locate the entry below by regedit.exe
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CURRENTCONTROLSET\CONTROL\CLASS
\{4D36E967-E325-11CE-BFC1-08002BE10318}
2) Look at UpperFilters key. It should contain “PartMgr” only.
3) If the key shows something more, mark down what they are
before editing the key to read “PartMgr” only. Mine was “Shockprf”
4) Start FSX, the activation dialog should be prompted.
5) Type in activation code and click next
6) If you get an error that it can`t connect to the activation server, resolve this by closing FSX, rightclick on FSX.exe and uncheck “Run this program in Compatibility mode”
7) Start FSX again and it should activate
8) Edit back the registry key with the previous content. (This step may not be required.)

Again hope this will help someone.

=D>

Just comes to show even Microsoft dont know what they are typing on support pages.

https://support.microsoft.com/en-us/hel ... imulator-x

Clearly "resetsldl<space> -all" was meant to be written "resetsldl<space> /a" in their instruction for the same file.
