Worst nightmare

Unread post by Christo » Wed Jan 02, 2019 1:50 pm

Seconds after this photo was taken he fell forward breaking the joystick off at the base. This is a Thrustmaster Warthog!! Just the stick will cost R5700 to replace in SA, having a friend send me one from Canada, about R4000.

So my handyman retired neighbor takes the thing, uses qbond on the base and it works really well but when I plug in none of the buttons work so I thought ok, there goes the vacation money. Remember, base is now set with qbond so cannot really open it up again.

Again off the neighbor goes with it, comes back 30 min later with a Thrustmaster Stick spit in halt say we must test. Everything works except the pinky switch. Off he goes again...

I reinstalled my Saitek X65F while I was going to wait to replace this stick (only after feb most likely since I'm going on holiday beginning feb) but quickly realized I will never be able to fly the Hornet with the Saitek throttles, they are way way way too stuff for the carrier landing, you jocking those babies constantly on approach. The force stick was also going to be a problem. I noticed in Elite Dangerous I was not getting the rotation I was with the Warthog.

So all in all pretty happy, got a working stick again, and saved R6K to boot.

Jesus C... 5.7K just for the stick... and it broke with a simple fall.
I'd expect and all metal, self repairing stick for that price ;)

I've bought from Wootware several times. No issues.

Once you used a thrustmaster warthog you will not want to use anything else ever again. It is truly the king! The stick is smooth as hell, very very precise. The throttle also has as much friction as you desire with almost none at the minimum setting, how I use it, essential for this carrier approach.

Good to know about wootware, thank you.

That looks like a job for a 3d printer to sort out.

Yeah, had to open it up to reconnect the wires to the pc board and then some qbond did the trick. 100% working again.
