Show us your Workshop

Unread post by Jayson v Schalkwyk » Thu Jun 30, 2011 8:55 am

Builders unite.

I came across a forum type website recently that I think is like garage porn - http://www.garagejournal.com. Now it is an American site and we know how over the top they can be somtimes, but its great to see what other guys do for space and workbenches etc and it got me thinking.

Most chaps in this thread are builders and workshop types, so how about we have a "show off your workshop" section. I might be adding on here at home and am keen for some ideas for what will be a garage/workshop.

Its not a "geez his shop is untidy" thing just a "wow what a great idea", or "nice workbench" or "how did you do that" kind of thing.

I will start by adding a few of my garage.

Our house is quite old fashioned, was a single garage, second garage was added on long before we bought the house. It has old flat corrugated iron roof, crappy floors (would love a epoxy type floor) not such great lighting and used to leaked. Have added some lights, fixed the leaks but would love a newer looking garage.

DOH!! Thought I had more pics of workshop/garage. Will take a few a little later and add them in here, since it was my idea. Go easy on the neatness comments lads!

JT,

Come on, my permission isn't needed. That's why I started the thread. Let's see what guys get up to in their workshops.

I am in Kigali on a flight, when I get home, will add my pictures as promised.

flightlines wrote:OK, this is my workshop and this is the sort of stuff that I get up to.

The basic config is a 12M x 6M carport leading into a 6M x 6M garage leading into a 6Mx6M office leading into a 6Mx3M toilet/shower washroom. My interests are in amateur radio astronomy, astronomy, amateur radio, model aircraft using remote video telemetry and ultimately one of the things on my to-do list is to build my own aircraft. The workshop serves as a an unofficial club house for fellow hams and model aircraft enthusiasts. I am basically retired now but I still do interesting little projects here and there to keep busy, but I work from home out of my garage.

Cheers mates.
Wow Flightlines, stunning shack/workshop!
