Would love to be there but my bank manager says I have been to too many fly-ins/airshows recently :(

Bring her with and spoil her with a spa treatment, enjoy one of our many country side B&B's, some fresh mountain air, a couple of restaurants (not many being a tiny town) and splendid views of the berg.

No, I don't work for the town marketing department.

Crowd funding works for RTW trips ... does it work for visits to Himeville :lol: :lol:

Was busy remembering Himeville from my days wondering around th Berg with a fly rod, and my first thought was, what altitude? Turns out it is not much higher than Joburg....

Great spot, maybe one day in th not too distant future I can get to visit these great little airfields.
The older I get, the more I am convinced that "A Confederacy of Dunces" is non fiction.

Hi Jason ,
Have friends in the area with a nice cottage so will be there at 07h00 on Sunday morning
A flip in a Yak would be nice but there are a few others I have my eye on .... :)
PS ;
Apart from restaurants [Lemon Tree-- Underberg / Himeville Arms -- Himeville ] etc etc I see you have not mentioned the very interesting Museum or the well stocked SPAR and the wonderful butchery ( wonder if it will be open on Sunday ? -- best stock up on biltong on Saturday )

Thanks Chaps,

Yup, ExColonial, Himeville field is at 5100ft. Trout are still here too. The river season has not opened here yet as the Fishing club ( http://www.uhtfc.co.za ) is trying to preserve the Umzimkhulu as best they can with the little rainfall we have had in the last 2years. Dams are well managed and producing good fish.

Chris, yup, Lemon Tree is very nice. It's quaint, serves DELICIOUS meals and coffe, and often has some beautiful art work and photos by our local. In Himeville, we also have The Rose and Quail, another quaint restaurant with lovely outdoor garden seating, great meals and truly friendly service. Attached is the The Stone house which is full of antiques for the wives to browse through.

Look forward to seeing you on Sunday.

Will Avgas be available, or alternatively which is closest field that will have?

Thanks
Mark
