Weather Radars not working, again

Unread post by kb » Thu Apr 13, 2017 10:21 am

Any particular reason that the weather radars are often offline? As of today, 5 radars are not working, Durban seems to be up again after a downtime of approx 3 weeks. just a little frustrating when you get the "no info" message, and it seems they take forever to get back up and running.
FABM has not had Radar for years, so why even include it in the list?

Rant off.

Agree with your rant!

It's unbelievably frustrating not having any info available. The images help hugely with planning - if they work!

And from what I've found - there's no alternative. Nothing else has the same detail.

I complained earlier in the year directly with SAWS, but nothing came of it...

Really hope they get them up and running as we come into the stormy season...

The Irene radar is down due to power problems at the site (since the 22nd of September). SAWS Technical Services division is working on the problem.
They've had problems for well over a year. After every storm the radar is offline.
