Non SAMAA members invading airspace.

Unread post by Woema » Sat Nov 26, 2011 8:00 am

We started a new club in our community. All went well. We then desided to register our club with SAMAA. Unfortunately new members came around who refuse to register with SAMAA. We then gave them a deadline. They did'nt comply. Also there is a stretch off landing strip about 1km from our field. It was found that those people utilize that landing strip for their flying perposes. What can we do to resolve this problem? Sure somebody else had similar problems in the past. Any advice?

Hi Woemerang,

There are two aspects to this matter. The first is that of the registered airfield. Since you have registered this site, your club has the right to refuse membership & charge a daily landing fee otherwise.

In terms of the landing strip 1km from the field, the process is relatively simply: we first ask the individuals not to fly from a non-registered site. We then write them a letter (registered or hand delivered) informing them of this, as well as outlining the CAA defined ACT. If they still do not wish to comply, then we are legally compelled to report them to the CAA, who will prosecute.

Regards,
Lionel
