Hi guys
I am happy to report ZU-IHC is finally completed and has sucsessfuly made her maiden flight..
Me and Jonathan brought in the kits together and building started 1 Jan. 2014. The build was completed somewhere in Jan. this year and Authoroty for proving flight was issued in April. I only managed to get everything together this month but alas she's finally flown.

Mine differs from Jonathan's in that it has a nose wheel and I installed a Revmaster R2300 engine I have also kept the instrumentation a bit more conventional with a mix of the two worlds (Steam and digital)

You guys following this thread might have noticed right in the beginning when Jonathan announced that he has taken the plunge I took the bait and now I have landed my fish. Jonathan.... my frien and mentor.... thank you for paving the way and taking me allong on this wonderful journey. You have helped me making a lifetime dream come true. Looking forward to the next leg of this trip.

Now even a bigger challenge for me... how to get a couple of pictures posted

Superb little machines - well done guys. Out of interest, can you confirm that the VW engine is delivering the 85 hp, and what your max straight and level speed is?

The reason for asking - I like the sonex wing section, and I would expect it to produce a better cruise than 110 knots. I am thinking along the lines of building myself the perfect single seater sport aircraft, with benign stall and a fast cruise by studying the various one seaters out there and picking the best from each (sort of ) to do it. My little machine, has a fairly fat wing section(glider derived I think) but is otherwise a very clean airframe, and I am getting an indicated cruise of +- 120knots...

I don't want to go the midget mustang route and have a thin laminar section, and make the thing too hot too handle. The Arnold Ar-5 is a great startpoint for the wing, but i thought the Sonex wing offered the best combination of performance and low speed handling.

I suspect I may have to go more laminar than the NACA 64-415 section to achieve a 140 knot indicated cruise with 80hp, judging by your performance figures...
The older I get, the more I am convinced that "A Confederacy of Dunces" is non fiction.
