On the 17th October Saturday we had a special event at Brits.

(I was hoping not to be the first to post about this. If I am not - feel welcome to adjust or remove.)

Now I am from Kitty Hawk, but my plane is from Brits, these Sambas, Lambada's and Flamingos are imported as Kits from Europe - Reiner and Barbara's factory, Wings and Tracks CC. assemble and distribute these aircraft.

So this Saturday we celebrated Reiners 50 Years of flying!

Reiner got his Pilot's License around 1960 I gather, and he has been flying since.

I believe he is a Mechanical Engineer.

His son Michael, was in South Africa a few years ago, and I received my very first instruction from Michael in a Lambada.

These photo's from the days event were taken with my 3.2 Megapixel Cellphone.

There were many photographers - and hopefully you will be able to appreciate the event from their perspective.

Rob Kennedy organized a very successful fly-by of about 26 aircraft - mostly Lambadas and Sambas and Flamingo's - but also two Grumann's, a Mooney, Rob's RV, a Jabiru, and still some others.

This was meant to be a surprise for Reiner, but to keep such organization under raps is too difficult - so someone let him in on it - and they put him on a throne next to the windsock - with a Golden Crown and and an appropriate gown wrapped around him - so he could watch the honorary fly-by.

(Anybody with that Photo??)

Reiner was delighted as the odd 26 aircaft - a lot of which he had built, flew by, representing less than 13% of the aircraft he had built, (as a rough off-the-cuff thumb-suck estimate).

Here are a few of my amateur-shots, while we await those of the heavy-weights.

This tow seemed to be curtailed early and then the glider landed on the rough dirt runway next to the tarred runway.
