I also fitted the one piece windshield and a few small speed mods and changed the avionics as they now are. She also had tip tanks but I had those removed as she still has 7 hours endurance as she is now.

She was sweet and you could carry a nice load even with full fuel. She had a fuel injected 250hp engine, only a few came from the factory like that as they later switched to the 260hp fuel injected engines.

There were a few people that wanted to buy her when they saw her sitting like that a few years ago but the owner did not want to sell. I would not touch her now after all these years in the sun and rain. What a waste! :(

Ek voel dis so hartseer...

Interesting thing I only realised now is that MPK is actually the famous Comanche in uncle Jim Davis's story with Piet van der Woude. Uncle Jim was fresh at Placo at Wonderboom in the mid sixties - The story is on page 26 of this month's SA Flyer. Ironically enough MPK (CWG)'s (hopefully not final) resting spot is in front of the old Placo hangar where uncle Jim first laid eyes on her.
Saw her yesterday afternoon at Wonderboom. Seems like the end. So very sad

I intend getting her back in the air even if I have to go the ZU route. It has new flight and engine panels with quite a lot of good and new pre glass equipment. Will keep in touch and glad to give your Mother a flight. I bought her through MultiAir at Wonderboom, She was previously owned by Lowveld Aircraft Services. My log books only go back to 1984, I was unsuccessful in getting the earlier log books. A beautiful aircraft to fly on long legs.

And in Namibia there is V5-JRT, any other out there?

Anyone know the history of ZS-EVF - was a PA30 Turbo owned and operated out of old Vereeniging airfield by Victory Motors in the 1960's.
It was our treat on a Sunday afternoon when she arrived or departed.
Was it not shot at/shot down over the Ivory coast in the 1970's on it's way the the Olympics?
I do have pictures of her - will try to post - had a gold and black trim.
EVF was my grandfathers plane , Helmut Reichel who owned Helmut motors, he was never found when they were shot down.
