Ta Barry

I started to mark out and cut my own masks for painting, a real PITA byt the results when painted on look good.

I also added the gunsmoke stains out of the casing ports for the .30 MG and 20mm Cannons

The trick with weathering is to konw how much to do, not go stupid with it and know where paint would chip and chaffe.
Like on removable pannles - cowls, gunbay ect the edges of the pannels would usually chip the paint of where as on the walkway the paint would be rubbed and chaffed off on the place where there are stringers and re-enforcement on the underside of the allu skin.

The pilot and his fitter would get onto the plane there, the fueler aswell, all of them in the desert would have sand on their shoes

Thanx

I got the fuse painting all done, will add the exhaust smoke when the exhaust stubs are in.
Sofar I am at 3080 gr total....I really hope I can keep it at 5,5kg all up but I think some nose ballast will be needed, even at 6kg I am at speck weight.Im not sure what the wingarea is but it is huge so it should be able to carry the weight no problem. The rounded very thin wingtips also help with drag reduction.

Hi Theuns

Detail as requested.
SpittieBanking (003).jpg
My Spitfire is 5.5kg ready to fly with 6 cell 5000mah lipo. Wing is 1.8kg, Fus is 2.9kg with about 300 grams of lead. Lipo is 805 grams.
CG is 115 from the leading edge at the root of the wing.
Control movements are:
Ailerons High: 18mm, Low 12mm
Elevator High: 20mm, Low: 15mm
Rudder is 35mm
Flaps is as much as you can get.
No more than 10% expo, as the nose will drop when you lower flap and undercart so you will counter with a little up that I hold as it is easier to hold up than having to give down to lower the nose on approach. Too much EXPO will now work against you if you are holding up.

Great thanx Chris, I will use the same setup.
I think I will be pretty close weight wize (depending on ballast)
If I want 6 kg MAUW it gives me another 2,9 kg to work with.
My flaps can drop to about 70-80 deg, more than enough :)

When Im done we must get the 2 together for a pix.

What did you make the cannons from?

I used balsa that I glued a brass tube into and that was then put in a battery drill that then used to round with 60 grit floor paper that I just held in my other hand over the balsa. Have a nylon bolt in the cannon so you can remove them. A plastic tip for the large silicone tubes can also be used.

I covered the tailplane in solartex and added ribtape/lace detail.
I also added the trimtab setup.
