Ta Chris. I was initially worried that access to the inside of the molds to join the fuse halves might be difficult but I saw that I have loads of space to get in.....and get epoxy all over my anrms and shoulders in the porccess

When I was molding the first side of the fuse the realisation struck me that I had no assess to the rear part of the fuse seams and therefore I made the rear part of the fin the way it is now. With this opening I can get in to join the halevs.

Some thought will have to go into making the fuse, I want to use only a 2 layup of 163 glass to keep it light , but that large slabsides of the mid fuse might need some aerex of foam sandwich to give more regidity.
On my spitty, bell 222 and the mirage I use 2 layups of 163 and it is more then stiff enough but those are all round curvy frames, composites do not like large flat surfases....

Heads up I am going to rope you in to do a build of the first one, I am sure your expertise will turn it into a nice scale and nice flying model

I have prepped the fuse molds and hole to pull the prototipe fuse.this weekend,.always an anxious moment as I need to figure out the most practical way of.doing the layups and how to conform to those damn sharp curves. Like on the canopy frame, I can't do a round filler bead there as it needs to be thin. Interesting times ahead......
Stay tuned

I did the prototipe layups in the new molds this morning....took 4.25 hours of damn hard graft to get it done and joined in the molds, quite eager to see the results.

I also used a joining tecnique I have not done before to join the halves before it cures. You basically cut the top side layups about 25mm oversize on one side and the bottom on the other side. Then when the molds are put togeter, carefully you paint the overlaps down.
Damn tricky but inerested to see how it works.
I also had to pre install the re-enforcement plates for the stab joiner tubes.

Im 85% happy with the resrils, a few small bubbles I need to fill and sand, next one will have an epoxy bead on those sharp corners.
I like the way that the detail came out on the fise, will look cool under a coat of paint.
The molds seam inder the nose was not done well so I need to repair that but the other seams are nice anf small so filling and sanding for final primer should be easy.

weight sofar is 1350 gr

Fir interest sake look at the size comparason of the 1/5 p51 and 1/6 spitty.

Very nice Theuns, I think it looks great. Quite a large aircraft.
