Commercial or Private sale?

Unread post by tbone »

Where do you draw the line between commercial and private sales?

I am trying to sell my demo Yak airframe, because I want a Sbach, in the ad I stated the age, a crash, with pictures of the repair... and subsequently got reported to the mod's for not keeping with the rules. [-X

Does my Yak constitute a private or commercial sale? keeping in mind that my business did not pay for it, we pay for our own demo planes, albeit at cost price.

i think its easy for the mods to see the difference
A dealer who repeatedley advertises stuff for sale could be questioned
if its your private stuff and you only advertise once in a while like any other guy on avcom - then its private

especially when guys know you have flown something for some time, it even has repairs and is not new, its not like your turning over demo planes every month

I agree that it would qualify as private. Commercial ( abused) sales is going to kill this thread.

Without a doubt a private sale, what are chances you were reported by a "bandit dealer".

If you make a living out of RC you can't make a 'private' sale. Just my opinion. Just like Malema rigging contracts for his construction business. It is called 'conflict of interest'.

Hi There

Its simple in my mind... Knife Edge Spin is already paying for a commercial listing on Avcom so it's not as though you are trying to go cheapie by selling stuff on the private forum...

Like you said, everyone can see that model is second hand, the price is really good and I have no issue with it being where it is.

Where I do have a problem is where some individuals continually sell "new-in-box" items. I keep writing to the moderators saying "how manyt new items can one private individual have?"

Go well

The problem comes with dealers that deal in 2nd hand goods, traded in planes for new ones. This is then actualy dealers "stock" so how does one monitor which is "dealers stock" and which is "dealers private". Also are the dealers not placing their "private" stock in their shops for sale???? This then surely is considdered "dealer stock"

my 2c worth anyway

To protect the commercial interests there should be no doubt that the people on the private thread are doing private deals.

Stuff on the commercial threads is not as visible as stuff on the private sale thread. Maybe the commercial guys should be allowed to post a link (just a link with a heading using their 'black' usernames) to their thread when they want to sell something? You can then decide to click through, or not.

I think that it is great for the RC community to have the private swap shop on Avcom and we need to dream up whatever rules are required to keep it alive. (and to keep the people that have paid to be on Avcom happy)

As I have responded to a few individuals over the last few days:
There is absolutely no way for us to tell the difference between when it is personal or linked to your business. Some dealers were flying an aircraft once and then calling it personal.

If anyone can come up with a method that can be applied - we are all ears. But it would have to be simple and apply across the board.
There are also dealers that are very actively involved with trade ins and second hand good restoration.

IMHO if you are a dealer - there is no such thing as a private deal. It will link back to your business at some point.
Don’t take things for granted… Tomorrow is not promised.

Mods
i think this is a great idea from tanglefoot, paid up commercial guys can post a heading only, along with a link to their respective commercial section. this will help to drive traffic through the commercial sections more. its simple too. anyone who constantly posts NIB items should pay their dues then too and have a commercial section.
I too am a dealer but would hate to see the private classifieds go - its a great service to all.....
thanks

Bone, with 40 flights, you qualify for a commercial licence

From my perspective, I just want to know whether I am buying an item off the owner, and previous user, or I am buying an item that someone has bought, and is re-selling. If the price is right, this may seem academic, but I like to buys goods off people I trust, and know that they have looked after them.

I like the idea of the dealers being able to post a link to their section. The dealers will also get more hits on their sections, to view other stuff.

I agree with Skybound.

You can't choose to be a dealer now and a private seller later. You're either a dealer or a private seller. PICK ONE :!: Can't be THAT difficult

I suggest that Skybound just decides who he thinks are 'dealers'. Make the rules and lets move on. One warning and you're out, of Avcom if necessary!
