It is funny how the USA has adopted 'Basic Med' to help pilots stay in the air and in Africa they are doing the exact opposite. Oh for the love of extreme and total control!
Never under estimate the power of a small group of stupid people!!

Funny you say that.... I just got an email from my Doc to say that CAA requires a report from an ophthalmologist for my Lasik surgery from 11 years ago according to the "lasik protocol" annually. All this after passing an eye test 20/20. Where does this end?
Say no more.... #-o

basic med only applies to recreational pilots and FI's with restrictions on what and who you can fly.
It makes a lot of sense for that sector, though in Africa it would probably get abused.
Basic med doesn't help commercial pilots though.

So, are we going to put up a fight about the hearing tests and the need for all the added assessments, or not?
I had to go through some nervous times at the audiologist with my hearing aid needing uncomfortable high adjustments to pass the test.
Not once was I allowed to put my headset on in the test and I don't need the hearing aid when the headset is on in the plane. :?
If a dog is grinning, it may not be happy!
