I am thrilled to see this event happening again.

Being one of the spectators in the last event, I am disappointed that they decided to move it away from the Durban beachfront which was a more family friendly environment.

I am sure this will affect the spectator numbers quite a bit but I am happy to see it will still be happening at least.

Well done to all involved!

Also very glad to see it is back on and Rob Holland is coming!!! But its a pity that they picked the same weekend as the Presidents trophy air race and Botswana airshow. I'm gonna be at the air race.

But on the other hand some Comrades runners (20 000 entries) / supporters might visit :) (As Comrades is the next day)

That's not smart. Greyville golf course gets used for parking and marquees. How do they expect to get different crowds in and out?

The Durban July is the first Saturday in July, always has been so not sure who told you this false information.. I also doubt Comrades runners will spend the day before outside, most will be on their backs resting however I am running Comrades but I won't miss this for anything!

Have to agree, the beach was the best venue but I'm glad this is back and hope it stays!

The Sky Grand Prix of Aerobatics will be held together with the Daily News Handicap. Hence the clash of dates, unfortunate but unavoidable. Grandstand seating, VIP options and grassed areas for family fun. Will be a great, "rest day" out for the Comrades runners!

Great day of flying, well done to the competitors.

Unfortunately, I feel very poorly attended....

V.I.P. Was a waste, i bought the tickets thinking the place was going to be packed... venue great for watching horses or grass grow, hence looking down, not so good if you want to see top guys doing their freestyle, in fact, we ended up on the lawn.

Prize giving on the grandstand, binoculars could not afford a view it was so far away, doing it on the lawn would have been a lot better.

I think social media like FB does not / did not pitch to the target audience, My mates in Umhlanga and Ballito, commercial pilots, PPL's, enthusiasts I spoke to the day after did not even know it went down, so I say poor attendance due to the marketing aimed in the wrong direction.

Music over PA was way too loud... More speakers at better positions on lower volumes, instead of a super loud wall....

Nigel and Bugs did however do 'private' little airshow the Thursday evening when everyone arrived, that made the drive from GP worth it on its own.

Well done to Nigel and his organising team for overall putting a great event together, I hope the next one has 10x the attendance.

Just wondering, they should perhaps think about hosting an event of this type somewhere at an airfield maybe? Wonderboom perhaps which im sure might be a good choice considering the airspace, ground availability and access into the area.
But I can imagine they wanted something different in terms of a venue.
Also avoid Facebook as means of advertising, as not everyone is on Facebook and Facebook can be such a slug these days with our network
looking worse than my bank statement
Cause funny enough, I thought the attendance might have been the opposite, instead of being poorly attended, which is a pity really.
Cause I was wondering why there are hardly any pics of the event. But that explains it now :(
