Ha ha ha , the charge state has everything to do with its reaction, smoke vs fire , I have however fully charged and then punctured with out flames! , its seems those nanopuffs just don't have the kick for that, lol
No need to submerse the batt in salt water , but just the leads, the salt makes the water conductive and slowly discharges the batt until its totally dead , that is what happens , does the same as a light bulb , just slower (depending on the qty of salt added)

OK, so here is my series of stupid questions.
1. When is a pack really U.S. ? I have about 3 3 cell 2200 packs that are puffed and spongy but they have still retained a charch of over 4v per cell. The other one is round 3.8v per cell.
Can they be safely charged and diss charged to bring them back to safe levels?

2. If I need to disspose of them, I will dunk them in salt water for a week or two. What is the mix? Just enough water to cover them with a cup of table salt?
I assume when the packs read 0.0 it will be safe? They can't some how build up an internal chargs of sorts?? (yea I know it is a stupid question  )

These packs were stored for about a year without any charge, I think they were full when I did it .

Thanx

Ons het al baie hierteen gewaarsku. LiPo batterye moet teen 3.80v tot 3.85v in 'n yskas geplaas as jy dit vir so lank wil bêre.

Daarna was die energie daarin prakties nul.

Just post them somewhere using SA postal services - guaranteed never to be seen again.
