On the Estcourt strip, you had better know your stuff and be sharp. I have done it a number of times, but only recommend aircraft with good short field capability. Watch for the sprinkler system mid-line as they will seriously upset your wheels. Quite often cars park on the grass to enjoy a picknic, but it is quite long, so use the Estcourt option to be "only when necessery".

Transkei coast, Trenneries can supply, but take a can and you have about 300 meters to walk. Last time I was there we "hired" a wheel barrow. Nice though as you can stop for tea, a meal or in fact for the night as it is an hotel.

Hi CC, As you know. Komatipoort Airfield (FAKP) 2100 meters long x 40 m wide tar, 11 and 29 elevation 540ft . Only 1300m usable when approaching from from 11. The remaining 800m is used as a permanent drag strip and there are poles planted on the centre line of the drag strip!!!!!
During the holiday season, customs use a part of the runway for clearing the taxi's and busses to Moz and the usable section is shortened to 800m. It is best to call and confirm the status of the field especially when flying with planes that need a lot of runway. All runway details are on our website http://www.saplanes.co.za
Sasol garage 1km down the road. We will have fuel and hangerage in the near future.

Heye
The Superior XPIO360 (Lycoming look alike) handbook recommends the highest octane unleaded available.

Is it really "about" 500 metres long ?

Escort Ultra City has an unlicensed strip. It's about 500m long, 28°55' 24.68"S 29°46' 52.15"E. Here a pic of short finals approaching from the south. If your plane is small enough they will allow you to push it on to the forecourt to fill up.
According to my Garmin maps, the coords of this strip on the southbound carriageway are:
S 28 55 07 E 029 46 42
Please clarify- thanks

As CC says, Ghantzi, Maun, no problem, Mogas within walking distance.

So is Nata. You can walk there with your can, and the attendants will in short order arrange a "taxi" of some sorts for a few Shillings.
Bring your own containers though ....

Mogas can be arranged by me easily at Gaborone and Kasane as well by prior arrangement, and to a more difficult degree at Francistown.

In addition, I could arrange at Vilanculos by prior arrangements as well.
