El Mirador, Drakensberg

Is there anyone out there who could provide some info on El Mirador. (FALQ in the airfield directory) I am flying in there in a PC12 and would like some more gen if possible.

Nice strip. Land uphill 24. Approach takes you slightly between the trees, land 100m deep as the first patch is uncut / very rough. Last time in there was 6 months ago, slightly rough grass but not too bad...great little "confectionery" beyond threshold 24 for a bite to eat...

Hi Kingsman

I used the El Mirador airfield in July. Only land RW 24, towards the Berg and T/O 06. The trees just before the threshold did cause some turbulence during T/O and landing but nothing serious. The runway grass is kept short. But, as said by Markus_m2, a bit bumpy. You do not need a lot of runway to stop as the slope is rather steep. Make sure you are committed to land as deciding to do a go-around after touchdown might catch you because of the uphill and high ground towards the berg.

I was staying at Champagne Sports last week, on the doorstep of the airfield, so popped in to have a look. Beautiful surroundings and looks in good condition, though I didn't walk the runway. Sure looked like a one way in and out strip. See attached for information:
