Which airline is this?

Unread post by Joker11 » Thu Jan 10, 2019 11:07 pm

Hello everyone,

Is this Airlink as it operates today or is this a totally different airline?

In the battle between aeroplanes and the ground. The ground has yet to lose.

Aviation would be great, if it wouldn't be for passengers.

It was Airlink as we know it today. The "SA" was dropped some years ago with the introduction of the Bae 146's (which were all later replaced by ARJ 85's, some of which are still operating today.)

Airlink was "started" in June 1992 with the winding up of Link Airways. The fleet consisted of a few leased Chieftains and 3 leased Metro II's that at that stage were unserviceable, but brought back into service gradually over the next year.

Those only came a year or so later. There were 4 that were disposed of to Comair when Airlink joined the SAA / SAX alliance, a condition of which was that Airlink was restricted to aircraft with 30 seats or less, hence the introduction of the Bae J41's (some of which are still operating in the mix)

I’ve had the privilege of flying with a number of very fine pilots that went through that “school”.
