BA retro ''BOAC'' 747 Livery

Unread post by Burner » Mon Feb 18, 2019 1:22 pm

As part of their 100 celebrations, BA have decided to paint three B747's in special colours. First up is the famous BOAC colours painted by IAC paint facility at Dublin, Ireland.

Very cool... would be amazing if SAA does something similar one day, but due to politics doubt it would ever happen.

You think? Cannot remember the old flag being to prominent so if you leave that out the orange tail with the springbok should be OK?!?

But I guess the 'era' it symbolizes might swing the vote. :?
Due to the price increase in ammunition, do not expect a warning shot.

Sig Sauer, kinda like Glock except for men.

SAA would not dare, ask the SAA museum why the old orange tail dc4 is no longer flying and why all old flag markings were removed from the other aircraft. Politics!!!!

It's one of the "High-J" B747s which means we'll see it in JNB once the BA winter schedule arrives in March. However, we won't see it in CPT which is exclusively a "Low-J" B747 route.

Much the same as you won’t see a Lufthansa aircraft with a swastika on.

From Capt Wallsworth on Instagram (capt_dave_a380)

the next machine in the queue for a retro paint job celebrating the 100 years of British Airways is A319 (G-EUPJ) in the old BEA livery due back from Shannon next month...

G-CIVB is apparently being done in a Landor retro livery (Feb 19). Being withdrawn from service in Nov this year.

G-CIVE is apparently going to acquire the Negus retro livery (also Feb 19). She's being WFU in Nov 2022, wonder if the retro livery will be retained until then.

Vaguely recall CIVx's flying to FACT???

Need to get my act together and do some spotting ... living under the long final approach to 09L, don't really have an excuse not to!

Indeed, G-CIVB and G-CIVE are regular visitors to FACT!
