Below Cat 1 minima, so operators without cat 2 approval and training wouldn't be able to shoot the approach.

Landed off a CAT IIIA 50’ DH(RA 50’)at 07:55 local this morning. RVR given 450 400 500 (Need at least 200 for CAT IIIA)
Started seeing a few approach lights at 200’, all remaining approach lights and runway threshold and beginning of Runway at 100’. So about at CAT II minimums(100’ DH(RA 106’)RVR required 300m)

Was an Autoland.

my bad - it is a CAT 3 B on RWY 01. I should have said that there are no CAT 3 C airports in SA.

imo, the airport should actually have been re-located, rather than doing all the elaborate "upgrades" and RWY re-alignments etc!

No CAT 3 C airports in the world I think, nobody has figured out how to reliably cost effectively taxi an aircraft in zero vis.
That’s why CAT 3 B requires 75m RVR, so the pilot can see to taxi. The A B & C on a CAT 3 approach is about the aircraft capabilities not the ground equipment. A CAT 3 runway is a CAT 3 runway.

Relocating the airport would have been no good on Wednesday. Was fog bound from Langebaan all the way too False Bay. Only open areas where Somerset west and Stellenbosh.

One of those mornings ngs again. Although the METAR says 500m I can't see anything further than 30m forward with any accuracy under lit conditions.

Relocate where? Easier said than done given the terrain in the region.
