Amazing that the suspensions are always on a weekend.

Mind blowing. Always a weekend, always smacks of ignorance. I have to bite my tongue because I don't have all the facts, but I'll be extremely surprised if this is nothing more than some kind of small paperwork mistake. I'll leave it at that.

I wish I could reply in detail. To almost every sentence in the CAA's statment.

This is bafflingly vague, and doesn't tie in with the facts that I'm aware of, or is a misrepresentation of them. Or I just don't know.

But having an Alpha floor event has zero repercussions.

It's been two years since we saw my daughter and her family. They were due to join us in Umhlanga today from CT courtesy of Comair. Fortunately they managed to secure tickets on Safair tomorrow. What a shame. My wife had planned a huge dinner celebration for tonight. All gone to hell. Apparently it was total chaos at CT Airport this morning. Cars backed up for miles. This is so sad. I hope, if the CAA cannot prove its point, Comair sues the hell out of them.

Regardless of the status of SAA or their maintenance, operational flaws … does it not warrant some kind of investigation when an airline has two pretty severe engine related issues in a short space of time ?

I hope that comair does pull through etc. but fair is fair and aviation safety is always paramount. A financially struggling airline for whatever reason does need to have additional checks and balances applied when events take place that warrant them.

I am deeply suspicious of their motives based on past performance- or lack thereof.

No doubt the picture will get clearer as more information is revealed by the airline.
