Re: 450 Rooivalk project
It is starting to take shape now, hopefully the standard gear will now fit inside the fuse.
I also had to make the vertical fin thicker so the tail offset will fit.
I have to figure out how I will get the heli inside the fuse, I thought of making it split allong the red line, this will also be the batt access.
The line on the fin will have to be so the gearbox can be installed.
Still allot of sanding to do

Basic shaping done.A little fine sanding still remains.
Soon I will prime and start prepping for mold making.

Big desaster yesterday, I got home and somehow it seems the plug that was 90% ready somehow fell off the shelf and broke a few pieces off. I glued most back but all the finishing work needs to be re-done

Re: 450 Rooivalk project
Wow lovely I would love one. Many years ago Herman Grobler went overseas and brought back a belt CP for me. My first 450 heli, he said he had a Rooivalk body for them I think it was vacuum formed anyways I never got around to getting it. I still fly the belt CP so to have a Rooivalk kit on it would just be awsome

Re: 450 Rooivalk project
The biggest hassle I see sofar is the offset tail drive unit. None available locally only from HK
I have seen one made, but that takes a longer than standard tail belt...no idea where to get it
I am very tempted to cheat on the prototype and just bring it out at the base of the fin.....but tell no-one

Re: 450 Rooivalk project
But won't t hit ground, seeing as it is a tail-dragger?

Re: 450 Rooivalk project
I looked at it, with a tail wheel long enough I don't think so . The real one does not sit to low anyway....it is just till I figure out the tail drive issue
