B.A.C. circa 1987/88

Unread post by Raffles » Sat Mar 22, 2014 12:31 am

I instructed for Border Aviation Club in 1987/88 while I was flying a night freight service out of East London. A few names I remember (I could get some more out of my logbook next time back at home).

John Henry
Gordon Stiles
Roger Lishman (was an AME at Border Air)
Darrel (forget his surname, was also an AME)
Alex (got his comm and went to fly in Bisho IIRC)
Monty, owner of a big company
George Saffy
Ralph M Wigzell.
My Dave Clarks cost me R200 when 1 ZAR = 1 USD
Hindsight is what you see from the tailgunner position.

Not from that era but...
John Henry passed away about 14 years ago
Alex Karatamoglou moved from East London, SA to Australia but visits us at BAC at least twice a year
George Saffy lives in PE but apparently stopped flying a few years ago.
