Jamie Wilson - Aviator, PH, Friend and good guy

Unread post by happyskipper » Wed Aug 15, 2018 12:26 pm

Jamie Wilson - I cannot remember his Avcom username now - passed away this morning 15/08/2018 at 07:30 in Germany.
He battled liver cancer bravely and endured some very painful and tough "treatments" in India, England, Holland and finally Germany.
Alas, nothing could stop the dread disease, and he is gone - condolences to his wife, family and friends.
Soar like the eagle you have always been, my friend.

Thank you Aceman - he fought the disease bravely, and right up until the end he was a fighter, a friend and one helluva nice bloke...

I dealt with him right up to the last minute and concur on all aspects above. He never lost his fight and his commitment to honouring his commitments even when things got tough was rare and showed a sense of character that I have never seen before in anyone. Our dealings were always a pleasure!

Condolences to his family and friends. He didn't give up and if anyone should have won a fight it was Jamie :!: :!: :!: :!:

Thanks Jel - one of the truly honourable men I have known.
I wonder what will happen to his Piper Navajo - saw it today, looking very forlorn at Pemba Int'l airport. The Moza authorities were on his case about flying it to Nelspruit for MPI - I suppose that it will join the C206 at the gate??

If I remember correctly, he flew it to Nelspruit for it's MPI - without permission from Moz DCA [hours were over] as there is nowhere to MPI a Navajo in Moz. They fined him some ridiculous amount, and he refused to pay - then the fine became less, then he discovered the cancer, and basically it became a very low priority.....

I think I have the story right - knowing Moz authorities they will probably "claim" the aircraft, and it will rot away at the apron.

Thanks, Alan. Jamie was really a kind person - despite the tough, rugged exterior - I hope he is now in a better place.
