Everyone in Gauteng would have known him. Was rated on so many aircraft. Did my test flight in 2015. Died of melanoma on the brain.
Rest in peace friend.

Too sad. RIP Cyril, you still owe me one for pulling you out of your upside down 123-Series Merc back in the early 90's...

Knew Cyril well, both through model flying and micro light flying. He was one of my instructors back in the day when he owned Rhino Park. He was an awesome guy to fly with in both our fields of flying as well as being a wealth of knowledge in both fields.
Rest in piece my friend, may you soar high on golden wings

Yes, a great loss for aviation and especially for me. His signature is the first in my logbook, he was my RANS test pilot and CFI on Rans and Bushbaby, and our Cub was built by him. Registered as a Manser J3 Cub-a-Like, Registration ZU-CJM (Cyril John Manser).

RIP my friend and thank you for the positive contribution to our lives over many years.

Very sad news :( .

Cyril also taught me to fly and tame the "tail dragon". Was also my test pilot and brilliant tail wheel instructor, or destructor as he called himself. Fly high friend!

I am so grateful that my life was spared in the bird strike, and even though I only have partial sight now in my right eye, I can drive short distances when I have a lens in. It was thus a pleasure and a privilege to have Cyril come and visit me last Wednesday. It was humbling to now help him, with his sight also affected, experience a flight in my sim. We did a one hour flight from FALE to FALA. We have known each other for many years, going back to the 70's when we flew RC together. He had a cheerful countenance, and we recalled many stories and memories from the past. Afterwards I drove him home. May the Lord be with his family.

A GREAT Aviator has fallen.

Fly high Uncle Cyril.

Anyone have the funeral arrangements perhaps?
Do not let the aircraft take you where your head was not 5 minutes before.
