Surely there are more reliable technologies for connectivity than using internet connection.
ZAR would suffer more from tower outages with load-shedding than anything else. Not to mention bad coverage or excessive data costs as they are already...
I do think commercial drone operations need to be absorbed into aviation and managed similarly for safely plus regulation perspectives. It's just how that integration looks, is obtained and gets managed that is going to be the secret sauce of success or failure.
From the manned side of things in ZAR:
What are the issues with ADS-B transponders, if any?
Is it not good tech, does it cost to much?
Would it not give better visibility of aircrafts to both control towers and other pilots?
Any mandates in ZAR to have these installed?
