Buying a polished turd

Unread post by Frans Larkins » Mon Aug 10, 2020 7:28 am

I purchased a NEU1509 motor on Avcom a year ago but never tested it as I was waiting for my Toko2 that I have ordered at Cloudbased Composites. Well the Toko arrived and when the motor was installed and I did the direction check, I heard something was wrong. When I opened the motor, you can clearly see the glue marks on the magnets, it cracked all over and had broken out in the front of the motor. You can also see the rust deposit on the rotor, indicating that this happened a while ago.

I feel like that blind kid on the move Dumb and Dumber who purchased a dead parakeet bird.

Maybe not a Avcom topic, but yes, I paid R2k for the motor if my memory serve me correct.

Skande.

Name and shame him.
Have you confronted him yet???

It's magnets obviously were glued back up again.
That neo is a very high KV and about 1800W hotliner motor, and thus state -of -art.
NEU 1509 1.5d swings a17x17 carbon-cam prop. 200A esc

To send that motor back to overseas factory is going to cost upwards of R4k.

Have you link to advert?
Such a seller is a donderse skelm and should be sorted out.

In a Neu like this the 4 magnets are glued to the core and then wrapped with carbon fibre tow. Is the carbon tow still wrapped around the outside of the magnets?
Micro ducted fan crazy.

Hi. No. There is no carbon fibre toes on these magnets.
It was turning nicely by hand, but as soon as I opened the throttle, it made a click sound and was stuck. I thought in my stupidity, a washer or screw got pulled in by the magnet, and opened it, and then noticed that the screws on the side, 1mm allen cap screws, show signs of being opened. So I opened the motor and saw the magnets are cracked and broken, and the rust on the rotor shaft, and then I knew... this was not my fault.

Ek sien daar is fibreglass insert/ arm of iets.

Hallo Nick.

So jou rx, esc se gewig én sy plek vir lugvloei, motor gewig, bty posisie ens móét inskakel bymekaar.
Anders is jou voorland balancing-weights.

Daai motor spin teen 60 000rpm.

Watse bty? Square of lank of in series?

Ek't 'n shongololo, ook van Craig, my idee was om die motor extern te mount, beste vir cooling. (nie seker of ek hom gaan klaar maak nie) (fondse #-o )
